After all, how many other communities of less than 20 square miles would have thought to reinvent themselves as "The Waterpark Capital of the World!®" This community now boasts the largest concentration of indoor and outdoor waterparks, including America’s largest outdoor waterpark, largest indoor/outdoor combination and the state’s largest indoor waterpark. In pioneering the indoor waterpark craze, the Dells also transformed itself into a four-season travel choice. It’s not unusual to see license plates from around the country on any given weekend, with people making a special trip here just to get wet.
Downtown Dells is a kitschy visitors’ treat, with an eclectic mix of high-end gift boutiques, souvenir stores filled with authentic moccasins, and sweet shops brimming with mouthwatering fudge. When in the Dells, do as visitors have done for 150 years and take a tour of the Wisconsin River.
